  Amazing church and members who truly show God's love through their service and worship. They also have the best Greek Festival in the state that has amazing food.

  The Greek Orthodox Church in Winston Salem, NC is a fine example of the Greek Culture. It is VERY family oriented. Once a year they hold a GREEK FESTIVAL. It is an excellent opportunity to see and experience examples of the Culture and the incredible food. Every year the Church donates 10% of the proceeds to the local Children's (Brenner) Hospital. It is incredible to think you can have a great time and provide benefit to such a worthy cause simultaneously. I would highly recommend a visit during the festival.

  I'm not all that familiar with Greek culture and was excited to attend their festival with my son to learn more in person -- not just from a book. To be able to hear some live Greek music, see Greek clothing and dances, etc. Unfortunately, we didn't get to experience any of that. There was one display of traditional clothing as you walked into an eating area, but nothing else informational at all. Their website lists many activities for kids, but there was only a homemade-looking 4-foot putt-putt golf, pathetic little basketball shooting game, and no face painting like advertised. And most of the items in their "marketplace" weren't even Greek related. We stayed over an hour on a realllly hot day (95), but the stage wasn't even used.
  
  The final thing,which actually upset me was that there wasn't a recycling container in sight for the thousands of beer bottles and soda cans they served. At a festival with THAT many people eating/drinking, it seems to me that they have a responsibility to be as respectful to the environment as possible, but clearly no effort was made here. You could even see the 4 HUGE truckloaders of trash FULL halfway through the second day of their 3 day festival. So sad.
  
  The whole experience left me with a terrible impression that Greeks just eat and drink, and don't care about their impact on the world God made for us. So dissapointing. We will not be attending in the future.
